COVID 19 Information	The Lamar State College Port Arthur (LSCPA) Student Code of Conduct COVID 19 Policy requires students who have been exposed to COVID 19 or diagnosed with COVID 19 to report their condition on the COVID 19 Notification Form (available via a link on the Student Code of Conduct COVID19 webpage). Course Information
Description	Presentation of the theory, practice, and chemistry of hair color. Topics include terminology, application and workplace competencies related to hair color
Prerequisites	CSME 1310,1401,1453,2302(first semester courses) Must have a passing grade (C or better) in order to take CSME 1447,2251,2410,2401 (second semester courses).
Learning Outcomes	PSLO #2) Practices all sanitary and safety measures that protect individual and public health. CSLO- Student will be required to explain the safety and sanitation regulations for hair color and bleach. Student will be testing on this CSLO on Bleach and Hydrogen Peroxide Exam (PSLO#2) Demonstrates proficiency in all cosmetology skills. CSLO- Student will be required to name the four classifications of hair coloring and will be tested on the Color Classifications exam. CSLO- Student will be able to distinguish the difference between the three types of bleach and when they are to be used. This will be tested on the Bleach and Hydrogen peroxide exam. CSLO- Student will be able to outline and describe the application techniques for the four major color classifications. This material will be tested on the Color Classification Exam. (PSLO #3) Demonstrates proficiency in all cosmetology skills. (PSLO #4) Demonstrates appropriate workforce behaviors. CSLO- The student will be able to formulate the steps for applying an analine derivative tint. This material will be tested during the Color classification Exam. (PSLO #5) Prepares to pass the State Board requirements. CSLO- Student will demonstrate the correct application for a bleach retouch and virgin tint to darken. This will be measured on the Special Assignment Skill sheet.

Course Policies
Instructor Policies	Instructor Policy: · I will not discuss your grades over the phone or by email. If you want to discuss your grades, you must come to my office, in person. · The time clock is used for TDLR attendance verification. Each student is assigned a code to clock in; it is your responsibility to clock in and out each day. No student may clock in or out for another. · Upon clocking in, all students must be in their assigned classroom or lab and on task at all times. · Students must clock out for their 30 minute lunch break. Failure to clock out and in after break or lunch may result in an absence. Students not clocking out for lunch will be in violation and disciplinary action will be taken. · Every student MUST have a copy of the required textbooks by the second week of class. The student will still be responsible for any assignments given. · Students are responsible for completing all assigned reading assignments. Read over chapters PRIOR to class even if reading was not assigned. · Class participation is required. It is important to be active within the course. · Assignments: All assignments must be submitted on the scheduled time (Online & Face to Face). Any assignments emailed after the scheduled time will receive a late penalty of -30 points. · Assignments, Exams and due dates will be posted on Blackboard. Check your notifications, announcements and email daily. · Please contact your instructor if you are having problems with the class, material, or internet. · Exams: Make-up exams will NOT be given. All exams must be taken on the day that it is assigned and within the time frame listed. Please see your instructor before the scheduled exam if there is a problem. · · Students are responsible for all materials covered in class. If you quit coming to class and do not officially withdraw, your grades will be averaged, and you will receive the grade represented by this average. Attendance Policy	Attendance will be taken daily Mon-Fri. If you are absent from Blackboard on Monday the absence will be recorded under Your Haircolor course.Tuesday face to face absence will count in Skin Care course. Wednesday blackboard absence will count in Hair Cutting course. Thursday face to face absence will count in State Board Prep course and Friday blackboard absence will count in all 4 courses. Attendance Policy Regular class attendance is important to the attainment of the educational objectives of the college. The cosmetology program has formulated an attendance policy that is consistent with the objectives of the program and the needs of the student to fulfill all necessary requirements needed. Poor attendance is a leading reason for termination from a job in all areas of employment. With this factor in mind, the instructor monitors student course activity daily. Attendance is 10% of your overall grade, and will be monitored daily. (Online & Face to Face) Class Time: 9 a.m. – 3:30 (Please arrive 15 minutes early to be screened before clocking in; Washing/Sanitizing Hands, Temperature Checked Daily, and submit Screening Form) Lunch: 11:00 – 11:30 or 11:30 – 12:00 Afternoon Break: 1:30 – 1:45 Lab/Face to Face Time: 2 days a week for a total of 12 hours. Online Theory / Lab: At least 22 hours a week. (Theory, Assignments, Video Lectures, Hands on Related Videos) Total hours for the week: 34 hours · Consult with your instructor in advance if you know you will be absent, any days missed must be made up online through Blackboard, Microsoft Teams (Video Discussions), Quizlet/Quizlet Live etc. · Texas Department of Licensing & Regulations (TDLR) mandates documentation is available for the State Inspector showing attendance, theory and practical skills for online and face to face. · Texas Department of Licensing & Regulations mandates the completion and passing of all the registered modules (courses) to be eligible to take the state board exam. · Lamar State College-Port Arthur mandates the completion and passing of all cosmetology classes with a “C” or better to attain the knowledge and skills needed to pass your State board exam.
Academic Honesty	Academic honesty is expected from all students, and dishonesty in any form will not be tolerated. Please consult the LSC-PA policies (Section IX, subsection A, in the Faculty Handbook) for consequences of academic dishonesty.
Facility Policies	No food or tobacco products are allowed in the classroom. Only students enrolled in the course are allowed in the classroom, except by special instructor permission. Use of electronic devices is prohibited.

Other	Theory will be conducted online through Banner on Monday, Wednesday from 9-10:30. Lab will be conducted on Tuesday and Thursday each week from 9-3:30.
